Extensive Reading on Postgraduate Students' Perceptions and Its Effects on Reading Comprehension

چکیده

Several studies have shown the effectiveness of extensive reading (ER) in English as a second language (ESL) and foreign (EFL) classrooms. This study aimed to explore students' perceptions ER its benefits on comprehension. Extensive is considered be useful technique arouse abilities. Data were collected from 36 participants who are master's candidates at university Southern Vietnam through 3-Likert scale questionnaire semi-interview issues. The findings claim that students applied their processes free reading, topics, non-pressure tasks. Students believe activities help improve competence unconsciously build up habit for readers. From results study, proves advantages by what gained, such ability comprehend passages make inferences or predictions. researcher suggests further should focus factors affect conduct experimental research evaluate advantages.
